Family Cycle — Terms of Service

Effective date: November 1, 2026

These terms are a contract between you and Flood Stage LLC when you use the Family Cycle app. They are short on purpose. The Privacy Policy and the Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy explain what happens to information; these terms explain the deal.

1. Who can use Family Cycle

  • Creating a family account requires being an adult (18+) and, for any child profile you create, being that child's parent or legal guardian. Creating a profile for anyone else's child is prohibited.
  • An invited daughter aged 13–17 may hold a sign-in that her parent initiated, after she has seen and accepted what the app will share with her parents.
  • Children under 13 may not use the app. Their profiles are parent-managed; the app collects nothing from the child herself.
  • An invited adult uses the app on her own behalf; her profile and its data are hers, as described below.

You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials to yourself. A family account is for one family's private use — not for schools, teams, employers, or monitoring anyone outside your immediate family.

2. The family's data, and whose word controls

Family Cycle stores what your family enters, under rules the app enforces:

  • A child profile (under 13) is controlled by the parents in every respect: entry, visibility, correction, deletion.
  • A teen (13+) with her own sign-in logs her own days; her parents can see them, and she is told so. Parents retain the ability to manage the profile, and to delete it once her sign-in is no longer in the family.
  • An adult's profile belongs to her. Once claimed, only she writes to it unless she alone enables shared logging; her family can read what she has agreed to share. While she is in the family, the profile is hers to delete. A parent may delete it before she has joined, or once she has left the family — a family must be able to clean up its own data — and the app makes that loud, confirmed, and named, never silent.
  • At 18, a daughter's profile converts to the adult model and further family visibility requires her own agreement.

Deleting data, a profile, or your account is available in the app and works as the Retention Schedule describes.

3. What Family Cycle is — and is not

Family Cycle is a general-wellness and family-support tool. It shares educational information about what is typical across a menstrual cycle and estimates phases from the dates your family logs.

It is not medical advice, and it does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or condition. Its predictions are estimates and will sometimes be wrong. It is not birth control: nothing in the app can tell you when pregnancy is or isn't possible, and you must not use it to prevent a pregnancy or to try for one. For any health concern, talk with a doctor or other qualified clinician; the app does not monitor anyone's health and will never alert you to a medical problem.

You agree not to use the app for any medical, diagnostic, or contraceptive purpose.

4. Acceptable use

Don't attempt to access another family's data, probe or overload the service, reverse the app's security rules, misrepresent your age or guardianship, or use the app to harass or surveil anyone. An invitation code is a key to your family's data — share it only with the person it is for. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice unless the violation endangers someone's data.

5. Purchases and subscriptions

The app is free to download. Family Cycle offers one subscription, the family plan:

  • One plan covers the whole family — every account in it, parents and daughters alike. The parent who set up the family starts it (or, once they have left it, any parent still in it), and it is billed to that person's Apple account. Anyone they invite joins it at no cost.
  • Paid yearly or monthly, as you choose before you start. Both are the same plan, and you can switch between them in your Apple account's subscription settings; a switch takes effect at your next renewal.
  • A 7-day free trial first, for an Apple account that hasn't had one, whichever way you pay. When it ends, the plan renews every year, or every month, at the price shown before you start, until you cancel; cancel at least 24 hours before a renewal to stop it.
  • What it unlocks: the forecasts for the people you look after (what's coming, and each person's week), logging and correcting their dates, and the reminders. Without it, everything your family has logged stays: you can still see the dates, download a copy and delete anything, and a person logging her own dates always can, and always sees her own week.
  • The price, billing period, and what it unlocks are stated clearly before you pay, on the purchase screen. There, you turn on its renewal yourself, with a switch of its own, before the button that starts it will work.
  • When you start the plan, we email you when it started, when the free trial ends or the plan renews, what Apple will charge, and how to cancel, to the address you sign in with. Before each yearly renewal, we email whoever pays for it twice, about five weeks and about three and a half weeks ahead, with the date, what Apple will charge and how to cancel. A plan paid monthly has no such emails.
  • Billing runs through your Apple account. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled; you can cancel any time in your Apple account's subscription settings, and cancelling is as easy as subscribing. Cancellation stops future renewals; it doesn't refund the current period, and refunds are handled by Apple under their policies. Deleting your Family Cycle account doesn't cancel a plan you started: Apple bills it, so cancel it in your Apple account first. If you don't, and your family closes with your account, a family you set up again within a year with the same Apple account can use the plan.
  • Privacy is never paywalled. No consent, visibility choice, or deletion right ever depends on paying, and declining any data request never costs you a feature you've paid for.

Share codes. Share codes aren't offered at the moment: no code can be added or earn anything. If we offer them, the terms below apply, and we'll say so here first. Each family has a share code that its adults can send to friends.

  • What it earns. When a family that has never paid for a plan adds your code, and its first payment goes through without being refunded, a month is added to your family's plan — up to 12 months in any 365 days. The friend's family gets the free trial every new family gets, and nothing more.
  • How a month is used. Through Apple, as free time on your family's plan: whoever pays for the plan adds the months in the month before it renews, and the renewal moves later by that many months. A family without a plan keeps its months until it has one.
  • What a month isn't. Months have no cash value, can't be exchanged, sold or moved to another family, and go when your family is deleted. A month taken back by a refund is taken back only if it hasn't been used.
  • Share it personally. Send your code to people you know. Don't post it on coupon or deal sites, use it in ads, or share it in posts you're paid for. The message the app drafts says that you get a month; if you write your own, say so too. If codes are used against these terms — for example, accounts made to earn months — we may cancel the months they earned.
  • What each side learns. You're told how many months you have, never who used your code or anything about their family. The family that uses your code is told nothing about you.

6. Ownership

Your family's data is yours. You give us only the license needed to run the service: to store, process, and display it to your family as the app is designed to do — and nothing else. The app, its content, and its design are ours; we give you a personal, non-transferable license to use them for your family.

7. If something breaks

We work to keep the service available and your data intact, and the Privacy Policy says what happens if data is ever compromised. But the app is provided "as is." To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties, and our total liability for any claim arising from the service is limited to the greater of $100 or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability where the law does not allow it to be limited — including for willful misconduct — or takes away rights that consumer-protection law gives you regardless of contract. In particular, this limit doesn't apply to damages or penalties set by a privacy or health-information law, such as California's Confidentiality of Medical Information Act.

8. Ending things

You can stop using the app and delete your account at any time, in the app. We may terminate accounts for violation of these terms as described above. Sections about data (2), disclaimers (3, 7), and governing law (9) survive termination; your deletion rights survive it too.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and subject to any consumer protections of the state where you live that apply to you regardless of this clause.

If you got the app from Apple's App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also covers your licence to the app; where it and these terms differ, these terms apply as far as the law allows.

10. Changes

We'll post changes here with a new effective date and give in-app notice of material ones before they take effect. Continuing to use the app after that date accepts the new terms; if you don't accept them, delete your account and we'll part as friends.
